Christian Climate Action: The octogenarian activist

Phil Kingston
Phil Kingston is prepared to go to jail for his conviction that the UK Government should do much more to tackle climate change. The octogenarian parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church in Bristol and a member of Christian Climate Action says, "I love my grandchildren and I'm worried that the world we're handing over to them is going to be much worse than the one I inherited".
Phil Kingston has been arrested multiple times for nonviolent direct action, such as blocking the road outside the Westminster Parliament. He has been interviewed by Bristol film-makers Rubber Republic and this three-minute interview below is the outcome.
Phil Kingston says:
"My prayer is that it may be a contribution to responding to the environmental crisis - a crisis which goes much wider than climate breakdown. And that it will alert others to the international Extinction Rebellion protests beginning on 15 April and in which Christian Climate Action will be participating in London. We ask for prayers for all involved in these protests and all who are affected by them. Their aim is to let Government - in fact all political parties - know that half-hearted action will no longer be accepted; and to alert citizens to the utter urgency and seriousness of what is being done to Earth, processes in which we are each involved and have a responsibility to turn around."
