Catholic People's Weeks: Easter Liturgies and a Walking Week

  • Ellen Teague

The next two Catholic People's Weeks of 2019 will take place in April and June:

Easter Long Weekend - Yearning to sing our Alleluias: Celebrating the Easter liturgies together

18-22 April 2019

The celebrations of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter are at heart of the mystery of our faith. This Easter CPW invites participants fully enter into the Triduum, celebrating these Great Three Days by living, learning and worshipping in community.

The Easter liturgies are rich with symbolism and contrasts. Children, young people and adults will be encouraged to prepare, participate and enter into these riches. The programme will be participatory, creative, prayerful, joyful, musical, physical and meditative. It will include breaking bread, lighting fires, washing feet, watching and praying.

The Easter Long Weekend will be held at Plas Caerdeon, a Victorian mansion near Barmouth, Wales.

Walking Week - Escape on Foot

3-7 June 2019

An escape from everyday life to walk the Derbyshire dales. The base will be a hotel overlooking the Derwent Valley, with swimming pool, putting green, music room, table tennis and more. It is near Matlock and close by the Peak District National Park and Abraham's Heights. The area offers visitors everything from gentle riverside walks to challenging hikes - but the group will take the middle way. Some of the paths have been walked for over 230 years. As the group walks for relaxation and enlightenment participants will think of some for whom walking is the only way to escape war, violence, repression and ethnic cleansing. Does God walk also with them?

The week will be held at Willersley Castle Hotel, Matlock, Derbyshire.
