During the General Audience on Wednesday in the Pope Paul VI Hall, 6-year-old Wenzel Wirth from Argentina managed to get through security and clamber onto the stage as Pope Francis was speaking. Soon a little girl came running after him. Pope Francis laughed and told his private secretary Georg Ganswein to let the child stay and play.
The child's embarrassed Mum soon managed to catch up with him and had a quick chat with the Pope, explaining that her son has some behavioural problems and is mute.
Pope Francis said: "This child cannot speak. But he knows how to communicate. He is free. When Jesus says we must become like children he is telling us we must have the freedom children have with their father. This child has taught us all. And we ask for the grace that he may speak."
