Manchester: Saint Paul's sees parents as partners

Saint Paul's Catholic High School in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester recognises the benefits of working in partnership with parents and carers so that their students can reach their full potential. The recent Year 11 Consultation Day was an excellent example of this.

Consultation Day was a great success with parents and carers attending the school with their sons and daughters. The aim of the day was to give parents/carers a chance to talk to staff about their child's progress and improvement targets. Year 11 students, together with their parents and carers, met with subject teachers for a progress review for each of their subjects.

Mrs Sarah Williams, Deputy Headteacher, explained: "This was an excellent opportunity for parents and carers to meet with their son or daughter's subject teachers where they were able to discuss the courses that their child is following including their progress, current performance, revision and any concerns they might have."

"The atmosphere during Consultation Day was excellent and parents were highly complementary and grateful for the level of detail the staff provided. Several parents commented that our commitment to student success was exceptionally clear. Students and parents left knowing exactly what was needed to achieve grades of which our students are capable."

"Events like this ensure that our students have the optimum chance of developing and becoming the best they can be," commented Headteacher, Mr Alex Hren. "We were delighted that the event was so well attended and pleased with the interest and enthusiasm shown by both the students and their parents/carers."
