Edinburgh: Maryvale students celebrated in awards ceremony

The hard work of Maryvale Institute students from the all over the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh was recognised in an awards ceremony held in the beautiful setting of St Patrick's Church (Cowgate, Edinburgh) on 13 January. Mgr Philip Kerr celebrated Mass and gave the nine graduates of 2017 a special blessing on achieving the Certificate in Parish Mission and Ministry. The awardees were also supported by a large number of friends and family.

Maryvale FE Director, Dr Marie Cooke, praised the students on their achievement and declared her pride in seeing them: "already putting their study into practice in their local faith communities. It was a pleasure and a privilege to accompany such a wonderful and inspiring group of students, and I hope that this is just another step in their pilgrim journey of lifelong learning and that they will soon be back for more!"

On the same day, Dr Cooke held the first study sessions for the new, 2018 cohort of students from the archdiocese. She was delighted to meet such an enthusiastic and committed group, and is confident that, this time next year, they will be receiving their own awards at St Patrick's.
