Caritas Social Action Network resources for first World Day of the Poor

Resources to help parishes to celebrate the upcoming first World Day of the Poor on the 19th November 2017 are now available online. (see link below), They have been produced by Caritas Social Action Network (CSAN), in collaboration with the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP), the National Justice and Peace Network, CAFOD, and other Caritas member charities.

The 'World Day of the Poor' will be celebrated annually on the 33rd Sunday of Ordinary Time in preparation for the Feast of Christ the King. Pope Francis encourages Catholics to create genuine moments of encounter with those living in poverty, to "love, not with words, but with deeds". The Day is a chance for reflection and for action on poverty, in response to the Gospel.

The resources enable parishes to explore Pope Francis' message in the Sunday Liturgy. They include notes for the homily, a draft newsletter insertion, prayers of intercession, notes for Children's liturgies, prayer cards, posters and ideas for action. Bishop Terence Drainey, Chair of CSAN, commented: "These excellent resources will help parishes across the country engage with Pope Francis' call to action".
