India: State of Bihar under water
Source: Fides/CTF
The state of Bihar in north-east India is again submerged by water. The Camillian Task Force (CTF) have reported the deaths of 514 people and say 17.2 million in 21 districts have been badly affected. Most of these people represent the socially excluded and economically poorest communities, Dalits and Muslims.
The CTF, along with Caritas-India and the Camillian Disaster Service International (CADIS) are responding to this emergency caused by violent floods, providing health support to the four most affected districts of Bihar.
In a statement they say: "We appeal to you, confreres, friends, benefactors and healthcare volunteers: we ask you to contribute and support this effort with funds and prayers. Keep praying for the victims! Support and encourage our operators and volunteers!"
