Nominations now open for 2017 'Celebrating Young People Awards'
Who are those remarkable young people you know who make our communities and our world a better place? Million Minutes has announced that nominations are now open for the third year of their initiative to celebrate young people.
The 2017 Awards will be presented in central London on 23 November. Archbishop Malcolm McMahon of Liverpool will be the guest of honour and present one lucky recipient with this year’s Pope Francis Award.
The awards celebrate the principles of Catholic social teaching and the young people across England and Wales who are putting these principles into practice. Million Minutes is pleased that St Mary's University, Twickenham, is once again partnering with them to deliver the Awards.
In 2016 nearly 250 young people were nominated for awards in six categories, celebrating how they put Catholic social teaching into action. Million Minutes received inspiring nominations telling of young carers, volunteers and passionate campaigners, to name just a few. Nominations were drawn from schools, parishes, organisations and individuals throughout England and Wales.
Million Minutes has thanked everyone who supported siLENT this year, whether they stayed silent or sponsored someone. “Your generosity is making a real difference” they say, providing funds for youth projects.
