Manchester: Children enjoy Shakespeare Week

Young thespians at St Anthony's
St Anthony's Catholic Primary School in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester have been going back in time this week to celebrate the world and work of William Shakespeare. It all kicked off with the Big Shakespeare Assembly, featuring songs from the musical 'Shakespeare Rocks'.
Throughout the week, pupils learnt about the life of William Shakespeare and some of his most famous plays.(and even some boys in dresses!) The choir did a fantastic job of learning and performing 'Shakespeare Rocks'- a new song written especially for Shakespeare Week 2017!
Throughout the week, pupils learnt about the life of William Shakespeare and some of his most famous plays. They explored characters such as Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet, and had great fun writing their own versions of the classics in modern-day language.
Miss Maggie Groarke, Deputy Head Teacher of St Anthony's, said: "The children enjoyed learning about Shakespeare, his life and his most well-known plays; they were all thoroughly engaged and motivated. The Shakespeare events were wonderful experiences for everyone involved."
