Resources for Season of Creation
Last year, Pope Francis designated 1 September as an annual World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation in the Catholic Church, as the Orthodox Church has done since 1989.
The day of prayer, the Pope said, gives individuals and communities an opportunity to implore God's help in protecting creation and an opportunity to ask God's forgiveness "for sins committed against the world in which we live." The 'Season of Creation Time' runs from 1 September - 4 October, the Feast of Saint Francis. A number of new resources are now available for use in parishes, schools and youth groups.
The Columban Mission Institute's Centre for Peace, Ecology and Justice in Australia has launched its 2016 Catholic Season of Creation online resource for the Sundays in September 2016 (Year C). This Catholic online resource can help believers face the 21st century ecological challenges. Suitable for priests, parish and school liturgy co-ordinators, and interested related groups to help implement Laudato Si'. A Catholic Season of Creation is a free download.Download online at: www.columban.org.au
Eco-Congregation Scotland has published material for use by congregations during Season of Creation Time 2016. The material comes from an ecumenical writing group, and follows the theme, 'Followers of Jesus, Caring for Creation'.
