Chief executives took to their sleeping bags at Lord's today to launch CEO Sleepout London 2016.

They gathered at The Home of Cricket to promote the high-profile annual charity fundraising event on 31 October 2016. Senior managers from every industry are invited to give up their bed for the night to help raise more than £200,000 for those facing homelessness. The event supports four homelessness charities: The Cardinal Hume Centre, Depaul UK, CEO Sleepout UK, and YMCA North London.

Cathy Corcoran CEO of Cardinal Hume Centre said: "I am looking forward to my third CEO Sleepout. I am really impressed at the dedication of our supporters in giving up a night's sleep in their beds. It does not, of course, compare to the real thing but it is still not easy and draws attention to the scandal of homelessness."

CEO Sleepout UK Chief Executive Andy Preston said: "Last year's CEO Sleepout London raised around £180,000 - a record for a UK event of its kind. This year, we are determined to raise £200,000. I will be there with my sleeping bag and I encourage chief executives and senior managers from across industry to join me for the night at this iconic cricket ground. We are going to make it our biggest ever event, and where could be better to hit our record for six?"

This year's event has won the support of London Mayor Sadiq Khan who said: "I wish everyone well who takes part in the CEO Sleepout. In London, we have experienced a worrying rise in rough sleeping and it's important to support charities that help many vulnerable young people off the streets. I'll be working closely with government, TfL, local authorities and the voluntary sector to tackle the issue of homelessness in the capital."

The event is still looking for sleepers willing to give up their bed for the night to sleep on the hallowed turf at Lord's.

Depaul UK Chair Suzanne McCarthy said: "CEO Sleepout is a very enjoyable event and we are very grateful to all the business leaders who give up their time to help young people facing homelessness and to Lord's for making their wonderful ground and facilities available for this remarkable event. I would encourage all chief executives, chairpersons and other business leaders who are interested in taking part to get in touch."

YMCA North London Chief Executive Tim Fallon said: "This is our first time taking part in CEO Sleepout and we are really excited because we have heard such great things about it. It is a valuable opportunity for business leaders to support a very deprived section of society."

Sleepers can take part as an individual or as a team. All participants are asked to individually raise a minimum of £1,000 in sponsorship.

People who would like to take part in this unique event should book their place soon, as numbers are limited. Please get in touch with Patricia Marron on 020 7222 1602 or email patriciamarron@cardinalhumecentre.org.uk , and state which charity you would like to support.
