St Albans school hosts Christmas Party for 90 senior citizens
Nicholas Breakspear School in St Albans welcomed over 90 attendants from the wider community on Friday, for a Senior Citizen's High Tea Christmas Party. It was the second time the school had held such an event and was organised by the Student Leadership team, who were supported by numerous teachers and sixth formers who dedicated their time to create an enjoyable afternoon.
The event was Christmas themed and held in the school main hall which was 'very well presented' with a large Christmas tree and decorative tables. A
lot of preparation went into the lead up of the day and it was rewarding to have been told what a 'great job' the school had done in organising the
event.
As a source of entertainment, the senior citizens received a performance from the school choir and were provided with booklets to sing-a-long to the
popular hymns and carols. They further indulged in a game of bingo which was hosted by Deputy Head Boy, Declan Crummey.
Following this, a High Tea was presented, including multiple sandwiches, brownies, biscuits and, of course, mince pies. The light lunch was prepared
by sixth formers in the schools Food Technology department. The guests were also treated to a performance by Tommy, an attendant of the party who
showcased his talents on the piano, dedicating his performance to sixth former Amelia, who looked after him during his visit.
The delightful attendants of the tea were extremely complimentary of the student body who 'looked after them very well'. They further expressed their thanks to the school for bringing the community together, allowing the guests to socialise and mingle together.
The day was hugely successful and enjoyed by everyone who attended. The visitors were extremely thankful for the time spent at Nicholas Breakspear
and expressed their desire to return to the school for future events.
