Creative Arts Students from St Brendan’s Sixth Form College exhibited highlights from their A-level coursework at the Paintworks Event Space in Bristol over the weekend. The exhibition was attended by friends and family of the artists, photographers and designers; and also by art gallery owners, College governors, teaching staff from St Brendan’s and other schools and colleges and members of the public. All, including renowned graphic artist Ian ‘Swifty’ Swift who opened the show, were hugely impressed by the standard of the work and the professional way in which it was displayed.
Photography students Vitali Lazitski from Keynsham and Georgia Phelps from Brislington were two of the students whose work was on display. Vitali exhibited Black and White Documentary Photography of interesting streets scenes and unusual characters on the streets of Bath taking inspiration from the famous street photographer Vivian Maier. Georgia showed black and white portraits inspired by Vogue and the photographer David Bailey.
Simeon Arnold, Curriculum Manager for Creative Arts at St Brendan’s Sixth Form College said: “I am very proud of the effort that the students have put into their work and am delighted to be able to give them the opportunity to showcase their key pieces at this public event”.
St Brendan’s is the biggest sixth form provider in Bristol and Bath and is the only Sixth Form College in the area.
