Work begins on new Catholic school for London

Archbishop Peter Smith joined Fr Martin Coyle SDB, Provincial of the Salesians in Britain together with Headmaster, Mr Simon Uttley, to put the first spade in the ground at the site of a new Catholic school in London.

Saint John Bosco College in Wandsworth, a coeducational secondary school and sixth form, opened just over two years ago in temporary accommodation, achieving a judgement of 'Good' by Ofsted in 18 months.

The school will move into the state-of-the-art building in Autumn 2015.

Simon Uttley said: "in an era where children and young people are increasingly commodified in terms of their perceived economic benefit - or lack thereof - it is ever more crucial that we place their humanity and dignity front and centre"

St John Bosco College offers GCSEs, BTECs and OCR Nationals as programmes of study for pupils. Students in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A Levels.
