Coining it for CAFOD: Adrian Chiles & Frank Skinner win big on 'Millionaire'

Last night, (28 January), TV and radio stars Adrian Chiles and Frank Skinner earned a small fortune for some of the poorest people in the world, appearing on one of the last ever episodes of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? to raise money for CAFOD.

The pair made it over half way through the Millionaire questions to reach the £75,000 mark, eventually bagging a whopping £50,000 which will be shared equally between their chosen charity, CAFOD, and the Millionaire viewer prize pot.

The dynamic duo's knowledge was put to the test on subjects ranging from history to botany.

But after successfully answering tough questions on the linguistic abilities of pop stars and the artistic leanings of world leaders, they gambled on a question about the Parisian Catacombs that would have taken them up to the £150,000 mark, leaving the game with their Phone a Friend and Ask the Audience lifelines unused.

TV and Radio presenter Adrian Chiles, who recently travelled to Central America with CAFOD, said: "I was terrified. I was convinced we'd make nothing; Frank was sure we'd hit the jackpot. He knows lots about lots; I know absolutely everything but I can never remember any of it so that's useless. Having seen CAFOD's work first hand though, I knew anything we made would go a long way"

Writer and Comedian Frank Skinner said: "Millionaire is my dream show. You get to bring a mate, do a quiz, and contribute to a brilliant charity like CAFOD. If doing good was always that much fun I'd be a much better person."

CAFOD is the official Catholic aid agency for England and Wales, which has been working with the poorest communities across Africa, Latin America and Asia to fight against poverty and injustice for more than fifty years, and is currently working to tackle the refugee crisis on the Syrian borders, and to help the Philippines recover from Typhoon Haiyan.
