On 11 May, two major peace and justice organisations will hold a joint Annual General meeting, Pax Christi, the international Catholic movement for peace and the National Justice and Peace Network.

Around 100 people are expected to attend to hear highlights of the work of each organisation over the past year and of forthcoming events for peace and justice.

The guest speaker will be Prof Tina Beattie who will help reflect on the development of new military technologies (including Drone warfare) and their challenge to our previous concepts of war and conflict.

During the liturgy the bi-annual Pax Christi Peace Award will be given to four local activists. Susan Clarkson from Oxford. Alison Williams from Wimbledon and Ann and Stewart Hemsley from Cambridge.

Arn Dekker from the Pax Christi Executive Committee and coordinator of the Peace Award said: "The Award allows Pax Christi to acknowledge the peace and justice commitment of ordinary people within the UK. As a membership organisation, a movement for peace, our members, supporters and collaborators for peace are our strongest asset - they remind us of the words of Pope Paul VI: "peace is the fruit of anxious daily care, to seem that each person lives in justice as God intends"

Pax Christi will also welcome their new international Secretary General from Brussels, Jose Henrique.

The Joint Annual General Meetings of Pax Christi and the National Justice and Peace Network will take place on Saturday 11 May at Holy Apostles Church Hall, Cumberland Street, Pilmico, London SW1V 4LY at 10.30 for 10.45 start. Business meetings of each organisation will take place in the morning. In the afternoon there wil be the Prof Tina Beattie; and liturgy with Pax Christi Peace Award.
