Thailand: street children's team makes history scoring six goals!
Forget London being the sporting capital of the world - the seaside resort of Pattaya in Thailand recently had its own exhibition of sporting prowess when former street children from two Father Ray Foundation projects met on the football pitch!
The team from the Father Ray Children's Home wore the kit of the current World and European champions Spain while their rivals from the Father Ray Children's Village wore the team strip of the USA. Both projects provide a safe haven with loving care for orphaned, abandoned and neglected children in Pattaya. Sport forms a major part of their daily routine.
Although the team from the Village was soundly thrashed, losing six goals to two, the players were not demoralised and the defeat only stiffened their resolve to train harder and beat the Children's Home next time round.
The Father Ray Foundation looks after 850 children. The football match is just one of the many fun activities provided for these children who have been given the opportunity to escape from a life of neglect and poverty into one of love and safety.
