WDM seeks p/t faith groups outreach volunteer

The World Development Movement is seeking a faith groups outreach volunteer for 2-3 days per week, for three consecutive months. Expenses only.

The World Development Movement (WDM) challenges the root causes of poverty by opposing the policies and institutions that keep people poor. Some of the key reasons for WDM’s success are the great network of local WDM groups and supporters, including various faith based organisations and church bodies of various sizes and denominations.

All around Britain, WDM’s local groups and campaign partners keep global justice issues on the agenda, gathering public support for our work and putting pressure on politicians to achieve lasting change for economic justice. Staff in our London office support WDM’s education and events, local groups and supporters, campaigns and policy, fundraising and partnerships work.

The Faith groups outreach volunteer will work with the trusts and partnership officer in the fundraising and communications team. The volunteer will help us build on our broad network of faith and church group contacts to help grow this constituency of support. The volunteer will also have opportunity to input ideas, take initiative and make a difference to the effectiveness of WDM’s work and planning.

The volunteer will need to be confident with doing a considerable amount of outward facing communications and with meeting new contacts. The volunteer will be able to carry out the voluntary work from home or from WDM’s London office to varying degrees.
Towards the end of the volunteer period there will be an opportunity to attend and participate in the next UK Ecumenical World Development Conference (EWDC) which takes place in Derbyshire this October (1st-3rd).

To apply, contact Andrea Kaszewski by email to andrea.kaszewski@wdm.org.uk for a person specification document and further information.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a short informal chat at WDM’s London office shortly after the closing date for applications.

Closing date for applications: 6pm, Friday 27 July 2012
