Singing Friar from Assisi goes on-line

This week, a Franciscan Friar from the original friary founded by Saint Francis of Assisi: the Porziuncola, was signed up by a major recording company. Today, his Facebook page, Twitter account and website went live.

Friar Alessandro Brustenghi has the job of welcoming visitors to the Porziuncola and is a carpenter. He gave his first performance outside Italy, from executives from Decca Records/Universal Music at the 2012 International Decca Conference in Westminsteron Monday.

Having taken a personal vow of poverty, Friar Alessandro will not accept any money from sales of the album and his day to day life will not change. Proceeds will go directly to the Order of Friars Minor for its charitable work.
