Ampleforth Junior Choir on BBC Songs of Praise

The St Martin’s Ampleforth junior school choir have reached the semi finals of the BBC Junior Choir of the Year 2012 Competition and will appear on television on Sunday 15 April at 5.30pm in the BBC1 Songs of Praise programme. It is a fantastic achievement to have got this far and is a tribute to all the energy, enthusiasm and musicality of the 39 boys and girls who took part and to the choirmasters, Mr Vincent Conyngham and Mr Ian Little.
The choir is one of six UK primary schools to reach the semi-final and are performing “The Lord is my shepherd” during the broadcast on 15 April which includes a solo performance by chorister Rupert Waley. The School Choir of the Year competition is celebrating its 10th year and the judges for the 2012 competition are Russell Watson, Suzi Digby, and David Grant. BBC Songs of Praise is hosted by Aled Jones.
