London: discerning vocation with Samuel Groups
Young people met in four areas in London for help in discerning their vocation yesterday evening. Samuel Groups – a set of monthly talks on vocations and prayer – are meeting monthly in north, east, central-west and west London until June.
The groups have been set up by the Religious of the Assumption, whose mission is ‘to bring the world to Christ by the work of education’.
Next month, this community will also host a ‘come and see day’ for women discerning a calling to consecrated life. The day will include a speaker from the Missionaries of Charity, the Carmelites, the Daughters of St Paul, and the Congregation of Jesus and Vicar for Religious. It will take place in the parish centre of Our Lady of Mt Carmel and Simon Stock Church in Kensington Saturday 4 February, 10am to 5pm.
Samuel Groups take their name from the story of the prophet Samuel in 1 Samuel 3: 1-20 in which Samuel hears God calling him. The Groups will end with an optional weekend retreat at Boars Hill, Oxford on 15 July.
