Big Give – still time to double donations to Thai Children's Trust

The annual Big Give - in which donors double contributions to charities for a short period of time - was fraught with technical problems yesterday. But these have been overcome now and there will still be time to donate to the Thai Children’s Trust through the scheme when the site re-opens at 10am tomorrow – Wednesday 7 December 2011.
The charity desperately needs funds to help some 200 children affected by HIV/Aids in Sarnelli House orphanage in north east Thailand. At present the orphanage is struggling to feed the children, leaving them vulnerable and weak. They need a healthy, balanced diet to fight their condition. Many come in sick, lonely and damaged and have to be nursed back to health.
The target is £50K, half of which will come from The Big Give. The orphanage needs to buy eight acres of arable land to provide crops and livestock as a sustainable source of food for the children.
“We should like to thank everyone for their patience in trying to give through the Big Give. Please keep trying”, says Andrew Scadding, Director of Thai Children’s Trust. “The site is working now; donations are reaching us and being matched as promised. We desperately need that extra boost to reach our target”.
