Dance in Music - Devonia Concert Series

As part of the Devonia Concert Series taking place at the Polish Church in Devonia Road, Islington, London N1 8JJ, violinist Magdalena Filipczak, pianist Viktor Bijelovic, and Martin Fogel on guitar will perform classical dance music pieces including Wieniawski's Kujawiak and Obertas, Szymanowski's Dance from Harnasie and Chopin's Polonaise in A flat major, Op 53, tonight (Saturday 5 November 2011) at 7.30pm.
Born in Poland, violinist Magdalena Filipczak, graduated from Music Schools in Malbork and Gdańsk. Since 2004 she has been living in London where she accomplished violin studies (BMus, MMus, MPerf) at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Professor Krzysztof Smietana. In addition to playing the violin, Magdalena studied classical singing with John Evans at the Guildhall School. Currently she holds prestigious Artist Fellowship at the Guildhall School and as a part of the Fellowship she teaches violin at the City University of London. Serbian-born pianist, Viktor Bijelovic, has already accumulated considerable experience on the concert platform both as a solo pianist as well as a chamber musician, with concerts in Europe and Asia as well as Britain, and making several TV and radio appearances. Viktor came over to London at 11 to go to a specialist music school and then on to the Royal Academy of Music where he did Undergraduate and Masters Degrees. He has performed in front of HRH Prince Charles twice - at Buckingham Palace, to mark the occasion of Prince Charles's 50th Birthday Celebration and in May 2006 to inaugurate the Tent at St Ethelburga's. Martin Fogel is one of the most prominent guitarists to emerge from Sweden in recent years, having received great critical acclaim for his artistry in Sweden, UK and Japan.
