Edinburgh: tribute to Czesław Miłosz

Czesław Miłosz

Czesław Miłosz

A tribute to Polish Catholic poet Czesław Miłosz, takes place at the Edinburgh Bookfest on Thursday 18 August, as part of the Legends of Modern Literature series.

Awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1980, Miłosz was unquestionably one of the most important poets of our times. In this event celebrating Milosz's centenary, three leading contemporary writers ask what it was about his work that gave it such power. The man regularly cited as Milosz's successor to the crown of 'Poland's greatest living poet', Adam Zagajewski, is joined by the leading Scottish poet and author John Burnside, and the award-winning Polish literary critic and writer, Michał Paweł Markowski to analyse the genius of Milosz.

This event taks place from 3.30-4.30pm in ScottishPower Studio Theatre. It is supported by the Polish Cultural Institute in London and organised as part of the Miłosz Year 2011 and the Cultural Programme of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council 2011. Tickets are £10 and £8.
