Free Roger McGuinn download from Franciscan Sisters

Roger McGuinn

Roger McGuinn

The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in Wisconsin offer a free music download each month on their website. They feature Roger McGuinn's '500 Miles' as their discerning vocation song for download and reflection throughout August.

Sr Annette observed: "Wonderful memories! We use to sing this one so many times in my Formation years at the Motherhouse. The train has come a long way, and still it rolls along. You never know where the Lord will take you nor where He awaits you. What we do know is His always journeying with us."

Roger McGuinn was already a veteran of the New York and Los Angeles music scene when he co-founded the group that would become the Byrds with Gene Clark and David Crosby in 1964. McGuinn had studied at Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music and was active on the folk scene. In 1995, McGuinn began recording and uploading to the internet a series of traditional folk songs. The recordings are available for free download at the 'Folk Den', part of his home page.

Established in 1869, the Roman Catholic Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity serve in Catholic Health Care, Education and Parish-Community Service throughout the United States. From their Motherhouse convent in Wisconsin, mission locations extend across the U S From St Theresa in Kekaha, Hawaii, the westernmost parish in the US, to rural Ohio and the dioceses of Columbus and Steubenville from the Mission of San Xavier Du Bac in Tucson, to parochial schools in the Green Bay and Phoenix Dioceses.
