Viewpoint: MPs need to examine their consciences

With one Westminster Member of Parliament claiming thousands of pounds for a mortgage that was already paid off, and another putting in a massive bill to have his moat cleaned - the controversy over the expenses claims made by MPs continues to erode the standing of British politics this week.

In the latest Thinking Faith, Joe Egerton suggests that Christians could draw on a thousand years of ethical and political theology, especially the thinking of St Thomas Aquinas and St Ignatius of Loyola, to see where Christian leadership might contribute to the restoration of public confidence essential to constitutional government.
