Comboni Fathers appeal for help in forgotten war zone
The Comboni Missionaries have put out an appeal to the world for support and prayers for civilians caught up in the civil war in the Central African Republic. In a letter to the Missionary News Service, they say that since civil war broke out in the former French colony on 25 October, there has been little support or interest from foreign governments or the media. They call for prayers from Christian communities around the world for the reconciliation of their nation. They appeal for the media to give more coverage to the forgotten war. And they ask for support from international aid agencies in order to avoid what they warn is rapidly turning into a humanitarian disaster. Their letter concludes: "do not abandon this nation."
