Manchester: Coronation Street star opens hospice summer fair
Coronation Street star Kate Anthony, was guest of honour at a hospice summer fair in Manchester today. The actress who plays Pam Hobsworth, (Aunty Pam) opened the fair for St Ann's Hospice, which was held at Herald Green Methodist Church.
Kate, who is a patron of St Ann's, said: “When I was asked to support St Ann’s and subsequently invited to become their ambassador, I didn’t hesitate. It’s a wonderful cause and I was astonished to learn that it costs £9m to keep the hospice open each year and the majority of this funding comes from voluntary contributions.
"Only 35% is received from government funding so it's vitally important that St Ann's Hospice gets continuous funding and that's why I and so many other amazing people continue to show their support. I’m delighted to have played a small part in helping the hospice."
The fair, which had a range of activities, stalls and refreshments, attracted a large crowd, Two impressive looking Harley Davidson bikers, joined Kate at the fair and collected the entrance fee.
