West Country vets in Atlantic challenge
While most people in England have been doing their best to keep warm this winter - one parishioner from the West Country has been in an open boat rowing across the Atlantic Ocean for charity.
Parishioners at Corpus Christi church in Weston-super-Mare are praying for Paul Milnthorpe, who is a former pupil of Corpus Christi School. Together with fellow vet Jim Holton began their arm-aching 2930 miles voyage on 3 January. They have just completed their first 1000 miles after four weeks of rowing 90 minutes in turn day and night.
The pair are trying to complete this epic journey in aid of Farm Africa - a charity that supports rural Africans to work their way out of poverty with improving their ways of managing their crops, livestock, forestry and provide access to water.
So far they have raised £6,800 of their target of £15,000. If you would like to help them achieve their target click on: www.justgiving.com/atlanticvets
Their boat is called ‘The Reason Why’, and you can follow their epic journey on: blog.mailasail.com/atlanticvets
