Portsmouth: Bishop sends message of sympathy after mosque is vandalised
Bishop Crispian Hollis, the Bishop of Portsmouth, sent a message of sympathy and concern to the Moslem community of the city today, following an attack on the mosque in Southsea. He wrote to Imam Mohammed Yuquv at the Marmion Mosque: I was very sorry to hear that the mosque in Southsea was defaced and vandalised last week. I want to offer my deep sympathy to you and to the Islamic community for this outrage. I totally deplore these acts of the mindless and the bigoted. All of us welcome the presence of the Muslim community in the city and we recognise and value the contribution that you make to the harmony and unity of our civic community. With blessings and prayers Bishop Crispian Hollis Catholic Bishop of Portsmouth
