London: launch of support group for HIV+Catholics
A support group for Catholics with HIV starts this Saturday, 25 September at a Catholic church in London. The gathering follows on from the AIDS, FAITH & HOPE day workshop held in May at Vaughan House, Westminster, which was sponsored by Catholics for AIDS Prevention and Support (CAPS), the Archdiocese of Westminster HIV/AIDS Pastoral Ministry - CATHAM, and Innovative Vision Organisation, the African community-based organisation. Janet and Vincent, two of the group's facilitators said: "Even though many of us come from very different backgrounds what we have in common is our Catholic faith and our HIV status. We want to listen to each other's stories, learn from our different experiences, and offer some positive pastoral support to each other." The group is restricted to Catholics, living with HIV status and confidentiality is assured.
