Married couple beatified
A married couple were beatified at St Peter's in Rome on Sunday. Luigi Beltrame Quattrocchi and Maria Corsini lived in the city all their lives. Maria was an academic and educationalist and worked for several Catholic organisations. She died in 1965. Luigi was a lawyer involved in the reconstruction of Italy after the Second World War. He died in 1951. Cardinal Saraiva Martins said the couple: "made their family an authentic domestic Church, open to life, prayer, witness of the Gospel, the social apostolate, solidarity with the poor, and friendship. Intimately united in love and Christian ideals, they walked together on the path of holiness."
