Jesuit Refugee Service UK seeks Assistant Director
Jesuit Refugee Service UK is advertising for an Assistant Director. In addition to deputising for the Director as necessary, the successful applicant will be engaged in outreach work with asylum seekers and refugees, (for example, managing the JRS UK day centres) and carrying out support work for the destitute asylum seekers who use JRS UK services. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for the JRS volunteers who work among refugees and asylum seekers, and be engaged in promoting public awareness over the problem of forced migration as it relates to the UK, including giving talks and workshops in churches, schools, Justice and Peace groups, etc and otherwise representing JRS UK in public meetings.
The successful applicant will need to embrace JRS's vision, mission and values and be committed to the principles of justice and access to human rights. He/she should have knowledge of the faith-based sector in the UK and experience of working with marginalised groups and working cross-culturally. This should include an ability to relate to people of diverse language, cultures and religions. He/she would also require experience of managing volunteers, ideally in the voluntary sector.
