London: talks and Pet Blessing for Feast of St Francis
A weekend of talks, and a Pet Blessing will take place at Our Lady Help of Christians in Kentish Town, from 2-4 October to mark the Feast of St Francis of Assisi and the World Day of Prayer for the Environment.
Mark Dowd, the award-winning documentary maker and campaigner with Operation Noah, will open the weekend with a talk on: 'Climate Change is a Christian Issue' talk at 7.30pm on Friday, 2 October.
Ellen Teague from the Columbans will be speaking after all the Sunday Masses (7pm on Saturday, 8.30am, 10am, 12am, 1.15pm in Spanish and 6.30pm).
Before the Evening Mass on Sunday there will be a Pet Blessing at 4pm accompanied by a children's choir from St Patrick's School. Children from St Francis' class at the school will also be decorating the church. Local animal charities such as the PDSA, RSPB and Beaumont Animal Hospital are providing support, information and goody bags.
