Student Christian Movement welcomes new members
As universities and colleges around the UK begin their Autumn term, the Student Christian Movement (SCM) is welcoming new members.
Founded in 1889, SCM is the oldest student Christian Network in the UK. The National Union of Students (NUS) was formed in 1922, with the Movement's encouragement and help. The Movement went on to play a vital role in the formation of the British and World Council of Churches, and continued to be a leading voice on ecumenism.
WCC provides support and resources for university chaplains, student groups and individual students via mailings, email, website and visits. SCM organises events, the main ones being the SCM Annual Conference and a student training weekend.
