London: broadcaster to head Catholic media office
The award winning broadcaster, Rob McLoughlin, has been appointed director of the Bishops' Conference's Catholic Communications Service, it was announced today. Rob, best known as one of Granada Television's lead presenters for more than a decade, has worked extensively for ITV, ITN, IRN and was one of the first voices on BBC Radio Five Live. He has produced programmes for channels across the UK and abroad. He said: "I am delighted to be able to help the CCS anticipate the communication opportunities and challenges ahead. The 24/7 News culture is demanding and the talented team at the CCS will need tremendous support and assistance to engage fully in the on-going debate on TV, Radio, On-line and in the press". Mgr Andrew Summersgill, General Secretary of the Conference said: "I am delighted that we will be able to utilise Rob's media and communications expertise as we move in to a period where new technology offers new opportunities and challenges for the Church in England and Wales".
