Russia expells two more priests
Two more Catholic priests working in Russia have been refused re-entry visas. The Missionary News Service report that Fr Edward Maszkiewicz, from the parish of Rostov on the Don, was arrested on Tuesday, while travelling back to his parish after a holiday. After some hours detention he was deported from the country. A total of five priests have now been forced to leave Russia. On Monday, Keston News Service reported that Fr Jaroslaw Wisniewski, based in Sakhalin, was detained at Khabarovsk airport and deported to Japan. The Papal Nuncio in Moscow, Jerzy Zur, has sent a formal request to the Foreign Ministry asking for an explanation.
