Zimbabwe: thousands honour bishops who opposed Rhodesian regime
Thousands of Christians from Zimbabwe's eastern province of Manicaland thronged the Anglican Cathedral of St John the Baptist in the city of Mutare on Sunday, to pay tribute to two former bishops - one Roman Catholic, the other Anglican - ho stood up against the racial policies of Ian Smith's Rhodesian regime in the 1960s and 1970s. The joint memorial service for Bishops Kenneth Skelton and Donal Lamont drew at least 3000 faithful, mainly from the Catholic and Anglican churches. Source: Anglican News Service
