Lourdes: Cardinal Dias opens Jubilee Year

A special Mass was celebrated in Lourdes yesterday to mark the opening of the 150th anniversary year of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Cardinal Ivan Dias, prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, was the chief celebrant. During his homily he said: "The battle between God and his enemy is ever fiercer , even more than in the times of Bernadette. The world is being swallowed in a terrible abyss of secularism which wants to create a world without God".
