Going bananas for Fairtrade fortnight
Over one third of the human race still survive on less than $2 a day. Unfair trade rules keep them in poverty even as they face the challenges of food shortages and climate change.
As of tomorrow - Monday 23rd February - hundreds of thousands of people throughout the UK will be getting involved with events, large and small, to campaign for a fairer trade deal for poor producers.
Fairtrade Fortnight will run until March 8th, with all sorts of activities and opportunities to campaign under the banner 'Make It Happen'. These include wine tasting, film shows, fairtrade sales and an attempt to set a new world record for simultaneous Fairtrade banana eating over a 24 hour period, starting on March 6th.
