Zimbabwe: Four Priests ordained in Chinhoyi Diocese

Four diocesan priests were ordained to the priesthood on Saturday 4 July by Bishop Dieter Scholz SJ,in a joyful open air Mass at St Boniface Mission in Chinhoyi Diocese.

The newly ordained are: Fr Tafadzwa Joel Matambo, Fr Simbarashe Chisumbu, Fr Robson Njowa and Fr Archibald Pinduka, all from Chinhoyi Diocese.

In his homily, Bishop Scholz emphasised that the newly ordained priests are meant to serve and live like Christ and bring people to Christ. "Today you have not been promoted or given a top position, you are being ordained to be servants and preachers of the Word of God; so live this all the time so that people may know that this is what you are".

"From today onwards and hopefully until the day you die, my dear brothers, you will be called reverend Father because when you pronounce together with me the words 'This is my body, This is my blood' in today's Holy Mass and in your first Holy Mass tomorrow and every Mass thereafter, it is Jesus the risen Lord who speaks these words through you," he said.

Hundreds of parishioners from across the country and about 26 priests who included the Vicar General and the Spiritual Director for Chinhoyi Diocese Fr Mubaya and Fr Ngulube respectively and also the Society of Jesus Provincial, Fr Chiedza Chimhanda SJ attended the ordination Mass.
