A weekend at Boars Hill Carmelite Priory near Oxford, from 27 February to 1 March will focus on 'That Good Friday Feeling'. The Monastery of Our Lady of Hyning in Lancashire will host a Spring weekend from 20-22 March on the theme of 'Faith journeys – glimpsing the mystery'.

BOARS HILL WINTER WEEKEND
That Good Friday feeling
27 February - 1 March 2015 (Fri-Sun)
18+ Fully catered

'Faith is a supernatural gift of God, which enables us to believe without doubting whatever God has revealed'. (Definition of Faith from the Penny Catechism). Do many Christians have a firm unwavering faith throughout their lives? How common is the 'Dark Night of the Soul' experience? How many of us have experienced The Good Friday Feeling as Jesus did when he cried out in apparent despair from the cross: “Eli, Eli, Lama Sabachthani. My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” During this weekend in Lent we will look at some of the 'dark nights' experienced by others, including some of the Saints as well as our own personal faith journeys. And if you have always had a firm unwavering faith, come and share it with us!

Team: Teresa and Frank Monteiro
Speaker and Chaplain: Fr Matthew Blake OCD

HYNING SPRING WEEKEND
Faith journeys – glimpsing the mystery
20-22 March 2015 (Fri-Sun)
18+ Partial self-help

In 1971, Fr Nicholas Postlethwaite, with fellow-Passionist Austin Smith, opted to go to live and work in Toxteth – a Liverpool inner-city neighbourhood. Shaped by questions his experience raises for him, he will lead a reflection on shifting perspectives on promoting Gospel community.

Today Pope Francis encourages us to deepen commitment to our journey of faith. By reflecting on the crucially significant roles of “midwife” and “undertaker” might we explore how their “combined” importance points towards fresh ways to analyse and strengthen Christian community? Participants will be encouraged to articulate and list pertinent
questions, in a spirit of prayerful reflection. By sharing mutual understanding and enquiry, we hope the weekend will help us glimpse the mystery of God's revelation at the heart of human development, and promote renewed enthusiasm for the road ahead.

Chair: Nicholas Postlethwaite
Organiser: Vin Allerton
