Pray and fast for our planet
A growing number of people around the world are following Filipino climate delegate Yeb Sano's example, fasting on the first day of each month leading up to the Paris climate talks which begin on 1 December, to persuade world leaders to set a radical limit on our carbon emissions.
Sano, opened the UN climate talks last November with an impassioned plea for urgent action, and announcing a hunger strike in solidarity for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. See his speech here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SSXLIZkM3E
In London on 1 December, St Thomas More Catholic Church, 9 Henry Road N4 2LH (nearest tube Manor House) will be holding a short prayer service followed by a meal of soup, bread and cheese at 7.45pm. All welcome. The evening marks the beginning of a year of praying and fasting for our planet.
