Last summer Brightlights was the amazing celebration for WYD@home for over 500 young adults, now ‘Fully Living’ at Brightlights this summer, we are privileged from 27-29 July to welcome those who are witnesses to the power of Jesus when a young person is in a community of love and shows the fruit of saying yes to Jesus.

Over the weekend we will explore the messages of Pope Francis to the young church. Set in the beautiful grounds we camp, eat, pray and stay in the Friary with the Carmelites and share in a chilled out festival style celebration of faith, friendship, music, drama and encounters through prayer. We are honoured to welcome Maria and Ruggero who shared at WYD in Rio, the powerful story of 18 year old Chiara Luce Bandano.

Bishop Livio Maritano, from Folcolare, who died last month, said: "it’s enough to consider how she lived the experience of her illness, and to see the effects of her death. Sanctity is needed today. And we have to help young people give their lives focus; overcome uncertainty, loneliness, and questions, especially when they encounter disappointment, suffering and face death. Theories are not enough. What is needed is the living example as the one Chiara Bandano left."

Youthful saints will inspire us to respond to St John Paul II call for young people not to be afraid to be saints of the new Millennium. We celebrate Mass and there is constant adoration opportunities , workshops, inspiring speakers and wise and knowledgeable debates and chats to be had.

This year we are also welcoming back the awesome professional TenTen theatre company to break open the churches hidden mission across the country to the most vulnerable, mainly women and children, in England. Pope Francis is leading the way in freeing us from modern slavery and it’s the crimes against humanity through trafficking by calling our church leaders and police chefs to speak out and act in defence of victims and change the law here in the UK. Their latest play will give an insight into why Pope Francis is making this a priority for this time and generation. The whole weekend costs £70 including all meals and programme .

Bursaries are available. For more information see: www.brightlights.org.uk/Brightlights/Home.html
