Archbishop Vincent Nichols signs up to Change a Life

As times get tougher for people living on the edge, the Archbishop of Westminster is backing a new campaign which celebrates how those very same people can beat the odds and turn their lives around with tailored, non-judgmental support.

Change a Life is a new initiative being launched this week by the Cardinal Hume Centre aimed at bringing residents and businesses in Westminster, Victoria and Pimlico together to change the lives of people in danger of falling over the edge into desperate poverty.

Archbishop Nichols, the Centre’s Patron, said: “The idea of community is too often used without meaning, so I very much hope Change a Life will provide a positive model of a community coming together to help their neighbours in need. I am extremely proud to be a Patron of the Centre and the vital work it does. I would encourage those who live and work locally to get involved with Change a Life and make it even more successful. I am delighted that Channel 4 are playing such a lead role in supporting this campaign and very much hope that other companies will want to join in.”

Working in partnership with Channel 4 there are various surprises planned all over SW1 in the coming weeks giving everyone the opportunity to have fun, fundraise, win some excellent prizes – and of course, help to change someone’s life for the better.

Jonathan Allan, Director of Sales at Channel 4 explained: “We’re committed to making sure we remain fully supportive of our people's desire to give something back into our local community, so we decided that supporting our next door neighbour, the Cardinal Hume Centre, was the obvious choice. The work that the Centre does, particularly with young people, is invaluable and we know we can help make a real difference and change even more lives by working in partnership with them on this campaign - we also find working with them tremendously rewarding.”

Lives change for the better every day at the Cardinal Hume Centre. Change a Life gives people the opportunity to be part of the simple, small steps that people take on their journey towards changing their lives. More information is available at www.changealife.me

Launching Change a Life would not have been possible without the support of Channel 4, The Corinthia Hotel, Burberry, The Goring Hotel, Picturehouse Cinemas, Salt Yard restaurant, Dolphin Square Spa and Pantaloons in Pimlico.
