London: Jesuit team to recall Boston Marathon victims this Sunday
Members of the Jesuit Missions (JM) team in the Virgin London Marathon this Sunday say they will be mindful of the victims of the bomb attacks at the Boston Marathon as they take part. Twenty-seven runners will be taking part to raise funds for Jesuit projects overseas and for the Jesuit Refugee Service - the 15th year that JM has entered a team.
Richard Greenwood, JM's Deputy Director and the coordinator of the JM Marathon team, said that they are shocked and appalled by the tragic events at the Boston Marathon yesterday.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those who have died and suffered injuries," he said. "Major city marathons such as Boston and London are huge community events that celebrate endeavour, human spirit and courage. The JM London Marathon team will be thinking of all those in Boston when they take part in Sunday's race here in London."
