UK has poorest families in Europe says church group
The devide between rich and poor in the UK has increased dramatically over the past 20 years church campaigners point out. According to the latest statistics from Church Action on Poverty: * More seriously underweight babies are born in the UK than in any other European country except Albania. * 32% of all children under 16 in the UK live in poor households - more than in any other European country. * 14 million people currently live in households with incomes of less than half the average income for all households in the UK. Around two-thirds of these are not in paid work. For more information click on the Church Action on Poverty website.
