Peace groups plan oil company vigils
Peace campaigners around the world plan to hold a number of vigils outside oil company offices, and petrol stations, later today - to highlight the link between oil and war. More than 160 are planned in the USA. Three events will be taking place in London: in Hackney, Aldwych and Hammersmith. At 8.30am Hackney Stop the War Coalition which includes many church groups, is organizing a protest against 'the war for oil' at the Garage on the corner of Stoke Newington Road and Foulden Road. At BP's solar-powered station in Talgarth Road, Hammersmith from 11am to 1pm demonstrators will be distributing leaflets and holding banners. In the evening from 5-7pm campaigners will be gathering outside ExxonMobil offices at the Aldwych.
