Aylesford: Carmelites ordain new priest

On Saturday, Damian Cassidy, a Carmelite Friar, was ordained priest by Bishop John Hine at The Friars, Aylesford. Along with Damian's family and friends the gathering included Carmelites from all the communities of the Order in Britain and friars from Italy, Columbia and Ireland. 26th July was also the 18th anniversary of Damian's father's ordination as a permanent deacon and the 50th wedding anniversary of his parents Chris and Pat. Damian celebrated his Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday morning in his home parish of St Francis' in Maidstone. Damian is a member of the community at Aylesford Priory and is vocation director for the British Province of Carmelites.
