East London family centre wins glowing report

 St Francis Family Centre in Poplar, which is run by the Catholic Children's Society Westminster has been awarded a glowing report from Ofsted. Inspector Sonia Steele Sonia Steele spent a day at the Centre looking at every aspect of its work and measuring its activities against fourteen nationally applied standards. On all of these St Francis scored at the highest rate. Comments such as: "the Centre helps children make good progress in all areas of their development" - "Staff meet the children's needs through sensitive interactions" and "there is an extremely effective partnership with parents" are typical of the report. Margaret Whiteside, acting Co-ordinator at St Francis Family Centre said: "It was very reassuring to know that the commitment and hard work of all the staff was recognised by the Ofsted Inspector". St Francis Family Centre is situated in Poplar, Tower Hamlets. It provides a nursery, an after-school group, toy library with stay and play, mother and baby group and welfare advice.
